I appreciated the unusual flavor options on the menu but also the traditional banh mi. I've tried two of their sandwiches and they were both exceedingly tasty. They don't get mushy if you don't eat them right away which is also really nice. Staff were perfectly friendly.

Located off SE Powell, Killer Bahn Mi stands out as a beacon of Vietnamese culinary excellence. As I stepped into this humble sandwich shop, I embarked on a flavor journey that left me craving more. Opting for their combo meal, I chose the lemongrass chicken bahn mi, and let me tell you, it was a decision I didn't regret. From the very first bite, it was evident that Killer Bahn Mi doesn't compromise on quality. The lemongrass-infused chicken was tender and bursting with flavor. But what truly stole the show was the medley of fresh ingredients nestled within the light and crunchy bread. From crisp cucumbers to vibrant cilantro and tangy pickled carrots, each component added its own dimension to the symphony of flavors dancing in my mouth. However, it wasn't just the food that impressed me; the staff at Killer Bahn Mi exuded warmth and enthusiasm, a rarity in the hustle and bustle of Portland's food scene. Their attentiveness made the dining experience all the more enjoyable, leaving me with a smile as I savored every bite. As I reluctantly finished my meal, I knew one thing for certain - I'll be back. With an array of tantalizing sandwiches waiting to be explored, Killer Bahn Mi has earned itself a spot on my list of must-visit eateries in Portland. If you're craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine served with a side of hospitality, look no further than Killer Bahn Mi.

This place has expanded my knowledge on what good Banh Mi actually is. I got the brisket one this time....ridiculously good. Almost too much meat, no skimping. This thing was huge. Could easily feed 2 people with an average appetite especially if you do the combo. Had egg rolls and pot stickers the last visit, also very good. So happy to have a quality place so close by.

Was curious to see what opened up on good ole 82nd. Was surprised to find a banh mi shop nestled in the plaza. Place was very basic, they seem to focus a lot on fusion Asian style banh mi and not just the traditional Vietnamese style. As always we test the quality of a Vietnamese place by ordering the most basic of basic sandwiches in the mother land, a normal Vietnamese banh mi. Price point is double than your average sandwich ranging from $8-9+. But they give you a little more meat. But I'm not sure if I can justify going here often. Service was quick and they were super attentive! My only gripe is that everything is cut really chunky and blocky. It kind of takes away from eating the sandwich but the flavors were good and the bread was crispy. Will likely go back and try their brisket or other Korean flavors. Be warned the plaza area is a bit high traffic for suspicious humans so I wouldn't head here too late. But for a quick bite to go? Yes!

TL;DR - Wow! This is a *very* good spot for Banh mi! (You should go!) Backstory: So my wife was hangry since the lines at the mid-autumn moon festival were super long (like down the block and around the corner long), and so she made me drive out to bring her food! Food: Banh Mi (Brisket) - $9.99 While this isn't a typical Vietnamese dish (it's a fusion of two cultures), each bite was bursting with flavor. It was sweet, and tangy and definitely felt like comfort food. (5/5 Killer Combo, which turned the bill to $15.99 Seasoned Fries - The chef asked how I wanted them seasoned, and that was a cut above what I'm used to. In the end, it was seasoned just right for me to crave more. Thai Tea - This was pretty good. (It wasn't filled to the max, nor was it the best I've ever had, (I've had homemade Thai Tea from Thailand), but it was still very good. (4/5) Service: So, when I got there, the cook was the only one manning the store. Still, he managed to take my original order, and then handle my last minute changes, and then handle even more last minute changes. And he did so without losing his cool, and with continuing to be super helpful and polite. Props to him, this was very impressive! (6/5) Ambiance: Well, it's a small store and with no one manning the people coming in, the front was a little untidy. But I'm not gonna hold that against this place.

Killer Banh Mi has completely transformed the banh Mi scene in Portland! They've taken the traditional options to a whole new level and introduced exciting fusion choices like bulgogi and steak & egg. The flavors are an explosion of delight, and I can't get enough. Look at the amount of the protein they put into the banh mi. They put surrounding banh Mi restaurant to shame. If you're looking for an unforgettable banh Mi experience, I highly recommend this place! There is also a promo on their business card for a 20% discount when you order online.
